Basketball Recap: Patrick Henry Comes Up Short

Patrick Henry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to the San Diego Cavers at home by a 50-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Cavers are ranked 136th).

Despite the loss, Patrick Henry still got an impressive performance from Deshawn Jones Jr., who went 5-for-9 en route to 10 points and five rebounds. Sami Tabar was another key player, putting up five points.

Pierre Anderson had a dynamite game for San Diego, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points and four steals. Anderson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Marte, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Patrick Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for San Diego, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-5.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Patrick Henry will venture away from home to challenge Bonita Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bonita Vista will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Patrick Henry surely won't give up without a fight. As for San Diego, they will challenge Scripps Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in San Diego's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Scripps Ranch has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
