Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for San Dieguito Academy

San Dieguito Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Vista on Thursday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Joie Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Willow Wright, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Rachelle Acosta was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

San Dieguito Academy pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Dieguito Academy will square off against Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vista, they will face off against Oceanside at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.13 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
