Recap: Lubbock Westerners vs. Monterey Plainsmen
After soaring to 58 points the game before, the Lubbock Westerners were a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Monterey, falling 92-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lubbock in their matchups with Monterey: they've now lost six in a row.
Aaliyah Chavez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monterey, dropping a double-double on 37 points and ten rebounds. Chavez is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 22 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ambrosia Cole, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists.
Lubbock dropped their record down to 7-22 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Monterey, the victory was the 22nd in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-5.
Lubbock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monterey, they will square off against Caprock at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monterey has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,856 points over their last 24 matchups.
