Football Recap: Zionsville Falls Short Against Ranked Franklin Central

Zionsville faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles fell 20-16 to the Flashes. The Eagles' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Although Zionsville took the loss, they still got scores from Nic Hoggs and Tyler Weissmann.

Even if they lost, Zionsville's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Weissmann, Roman Barth, and Noah Alt, who each picked up one sack apiece. Zionsville received some extra help from Weissmann, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Nathan Sparks was nothing short of spectacular for Franklin Central: he rushed for 115 yards and one score. Those 115 rushing yards gave Sparks a new career-high.

Zionsville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Franklin Central, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
