Normangee took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Lovelady, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Lions 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since February 29, 2024.

Wyatt Kimich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Kimich was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-6. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Kimich wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cash Cheatham, who scored a run while going 1-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Cheatham a new career-high in RBI (three).

Normangee's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Lovelady, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9-1.

Normangee will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Centerville at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Lovelady, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lovelady Lions duke it out with Latexo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Latexo has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
