Volleyball Game Preview: Cannon Cougars vs. Christ the King Crusaders

The Cannon Cougars will square off against the Christ the King Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Cannon can't be too happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Davidson Day.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Davidson Day scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Christ the King lost 3-0 to Charlotte Latin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.

While Christ the King was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Charlotte Latin's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-19, 25-21.

Cannon skirted past Christ the King 3-2 in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
