Athens Academy waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 49-44 W against the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Wolverines are ranked 34th).

Athens Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Prince Avenue Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-2.

Athens Academy will take on Elbert County in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Prince Avenue Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against Washington-Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
