Basketball Recap: Marysville Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Marysville won the last time they faced Mira Loma and things went their way on Friday too. The Marysville Indians came out on top against the Mira Loma Matadors by a score of 61-50. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Matadors are ranked 690th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marysville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Javeyon Brown, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dennis Syders, who posted ten points.

Marysville's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Mira Loma, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marysville will head out to face off against Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Marysville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mira Loma, they are taking a road trip to challenge Center at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
