Baseball Recap: Wall Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wylie, Wall was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the San Angelo Central Bobcats a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Gunnar Dillard, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Hagyn Barbee, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Wall's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for San Angelo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Wall Hawks challenge San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season. As for San Angelo Central, they will take on Copperas Cove in a tournament on Saturday. San Angelo Central's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Copperas Cove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
