Softball Game Preview: PikeView Panthers vs. Mingo Central Miners

The PikeView Panthers will face off against the Mingo Central Miners at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. PikeView is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

While PikeView's win against James Monroe wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 2-1 on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bella Delida was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

Meanwhile, Mingo Central didn't have quite enough to beat Martin County on Saturday and fell 8-6.

PikeView pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mingo Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
