Softball Recap: Sussex Central Tigers vs. Surry County Cougars
Sussex Central had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it five. They came up short against the Surry County Cougars, falling 20-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Tuesday.
As for Surry County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-5. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs.
For Surry County's part, Whitney Griffin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Griffin has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple.
