3A Tri-Valley recap Oct. 30, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Roosevelt, who took down 60th ranked Northridge, 31-14.
Alex McHone of Skyline ran for the longest rushing play in 3A Tri-Valley this season against Berthoud last week. McHone's team topped the Spartans as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 100 in all.
Skyline's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Garret Angstead threw for 224 and two touchdowns and Javier Gonzalez had 98 yards receiving. On the ground Angstead chipped in 149 yards. Luciano Quesada helped Skyline's passing attack out by catching one ball for 46 yards.
Preston Pickert made the biggest impact on defense this week as Berthoud fell to Kevin Rice's team. The junior recorded one fumble and grabbed 0.5 sack.
The Grizzlies' Robert Fulton and Michael Graff have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Fulton has thrown for 2476 yards this season, while Graff, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 46 catches for 719 yards. Angstead from the Falcons leads the league in rushing with 846 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Northridge takes on Skyline. Jeff Fulton's team is currently in second, while the Falcons are in third.
There should be lots of points scored when the Grizzlies and Skyline face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Northridge comes in having scored 271 this season, while the Falcons have scored 242. The Grizzlies scored 14 points last week as they lost to the Roughriders.
Skyline took down Dan Mcginn's team 43-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Angstead in the win.
