Basketball Game Preview: Burbank Titans vs. Armijo Royals

The Burbank Titans will face off against the Armijo Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.3 points per game this season.

Burbank is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering West Campus just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Titans came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Warriors are ranked 630th).

Despite their loss, Burbank saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Michael Butcher, who posted 12 points and eight assists, was perhaps the best of all. Butcher has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Terron Tagger, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Armijo had to suffer through a 79-39 loss at the hands of Foothill. That's two games in a row now that the Royals have lost by exactly 40 points.

Burbank will have to contain Isreal Legree as he made an impact in Armijo's last game. He put up 16 points. Macen Glenn was another key player, putting up eight points.

Burbank's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Armijo, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Everything came up roses for Burbank against Armijo in their previous meeting on January 8th, as the squad secured a 71-27 win. In that game, Burbank amassed a halftime lead of 49-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
