Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Timberwolves vs. East Union Lancers

For the second straight game, Sierra will face off against East Union. The Timberwolves will host the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Sierra's offense. They came up short against East Union on Wednesday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Timberwolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For East Union's part, the result came thanks to Blake Mount's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. The Lancers are undefeated when Mount posts eight or more strikeouts, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jackson Fay was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for East Union: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Efren Diaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The win got East Union back to even at 9-9. As for Sierra, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
