Soccer Game Preview: Killian vs. South Dade

Killian hasn't had much luck against South Dade recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Killian Cougars will take on the South Dade Buccaneers in a holiday battle at at 3:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Killian's offense. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Coral Park an easy 3-0 victory. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, South Dade had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Golden Hawks a 1-0 shutout. Give the Buccaneers' defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Damien Lucero, who's now up to five this season.

South Dade pushed their record up to 10-1-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three contests. As for Killian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
