Softball Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. North Shore Mustangs
The Dickinson Gators will be taking part in a tournament against the North Shore Mustangs at 11:15 a.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Dickinson's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Morton Ranch with a sharp 13-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, North Shore made sure to put some runs up on the board against Freeman on Thursday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Golden Eagles. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
North Shore got a massive performance out of Alexis Stuart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Stuart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jada Duncan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
North Shore hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Dickinson's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for North Shore, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
