Baseball Recap: Falkner Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Falkner had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Hickory Flat on Monday. Falkner put the hurt on Hickory Flat with a sharp 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Gavin Wooley and Elijah Mauney did most of the damage at the plate: Wooley scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2, while Mauney scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Wooley a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Myles Mitchell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Falkner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.

Falkner is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. Hickory Flat is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Looking ahead, Falkner will challenge Alcorn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alcorn Central will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Falkner surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hickory Flat, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Falkner at 7:00 p.m.
