Baseball Recap: Afton Knights vs. Notre Dame Crusaders

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Afton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 7-2 to the Notre Dame Crusaders on Wednesday.

Matt Carman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Baciuska, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

On Notre Dame's side, Jahmeire Keyser was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Logan Meisner, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base.

Afton's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Notre Dame, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.

Afton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Notre Dame, they will head out on the road to take on Deposit-Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (Notre Dame: 3.7, Deposit-Hancock: 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
