Softball Game Preview: Payton College Prep Grizzlies vs. Northside Mustangs

The Payton College Prep Grizzlies will square off against the Northside Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Payton College Prep has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Payton College Prep came up short against Fenwick on Friday, falling 11-3. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Friars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Molly Vann made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Saya Tanabe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northside didn't have quite enough to beat Regina Dominican on Wednesday and fell 11-9. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Northside got a big performance out of Jilliyn Yung, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Yailyn Medina, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Payton College Prep now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Northside, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Northside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Payton College Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Northside, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Payton College Prep's hitters?

Payton College Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Northside when the teams last played last Wednesday, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
