Basketball Game Preview: Palo Verde Titans vs. San Tan Charter Roadrunners

The Palo Verde Titans will head out on the road to face off against the San Tan Charter Roadrunners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Palo Verde comes in on seven and San Tan Charter on 13.

Palo Verde proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 74) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Phoenix Country Day 57-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since December 23, 2023.

Palo Verde's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Ortiz led the charge by going 7-for-15 to rack up 20 points and three steals. The contest was Ortiz's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Pippen, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists.

Palo Verde smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, San Tan Charter won against Pima on Thursday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. San Tan Charter blew past Pima 68-47. The Roadrunners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 21 points or more this season.

San Tan Charter's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 43.7 points. As for Palo Verde, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.
