Volleyball Game Preview: Viroqua Blackhawks vs. Black River Falls Tigers

The Viroqua Blackhawks will square off against the Black River Falls Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Viroqua is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Viroqua will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Westby, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Blackhawks walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Norsemen on Tuesday.

Viroqua had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 30-28, 25-17, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Black River Falls got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau by a score of 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Red Hawks: they've now won four in a row.

While Black River Falls might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Black River Falls' victory bumped their record up to 5-19. As for Viroqua, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

Viroqua took their victory against Black River Falls when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Blackhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
