South Panola is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Grenada is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. South Panola will welcome Grenada at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South Panola 2.3, Grenada 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, South Panola got the win against Lake Cormorant by a conclusive 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Grady Beck Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, South Panola let Hailey Heafner and Kailey McKinney run wild. Heafner scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while McKinney scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits McKinney has posted since back in May of 2024. Kaleigh Cobb was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
South Panola kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Grenada beat Center Hill 7-4 on Tuesday. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Mary Taylour Wilbourn made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Olivia Lashley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Grace Ann Tucker, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
South Panola has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. Grenada's win bumped their record up to 10-6.
