Baseball Recap: Lamar Consolidated Takes a Loss

Lamar Consolidated extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-19 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Victoria East Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Tuesday.

Lamar Consolidated saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Victoria East, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games.

On Victoria East's side, they got a great performance from Braddock Raven as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Raven has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Bentley Blinka was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Steele, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar Consolidated will venture away from home to square off against Victoria West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Victoria East, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Kempner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.04 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
