Hesperia hadn't done well against Apple Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Hesperia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Apple Valley. While the Scorpions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Josh Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Hesperia pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Apple Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Hesperia is taking a road trip to challenge Miller at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Apple Valley, they will welcome Burroughs at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Apple Valley 3.5, Burroughs 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
