Softball Recap: Hamilton Emerald Knights vs. Morris Central/Edmeston Central
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hamilton had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let Morris Central/Edmeston Central get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Emerald Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Ellie Freeth's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hamilton let Chloe LaFrance and Rihana Dye run wild. LaFrance went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Dye went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Dye has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Hamilton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
