Basketball Recap: Southwest Drops Highest Score of Season Against Monroe + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwest). They snuck past the Monroe Golden Tornadoes with an 80-74 victory on Saturday.

Caron 'CJ' Howard had an outrageously good game as he shot 50% from the field to rack up 30 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Chase Dupree was another key player, putting up 20 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Monroe still got an impressive performance from Brayden Burns, who went 11-for-13 on his way to 36 points and eight boards. Burns is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tristan Terry, who shot 67% from the field en route to 18 points.

Southwest now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Southwest is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Rutland at 7:30 p.m. on the 8th. As for Monroe, they will head out to square off against Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
