Davenport had won four straight games and Joshua Bendele did his part to make it five on Tuesday. The Davenport Wolves came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 63-57 W against the Wimberley Texans thanks in part to Bendele, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Those 20 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Brandon Castilla, who posted nine points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played.

Despite the loss, Wimberley still got an impressive performance from Paul Gumbert-Mendoza, who shot 5-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Holden Crawford, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 12 points.

Davenport's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.4% in those games and 28.9% outside of them. As for Wimberley, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-9.

Davenport and Wimberley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Davenport will face off against Eastside Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Monday up 731 places (225 vs. 956). Davenport is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Wimberley (ranked 278th) will meet Manor New Tech (ranked 1032nd) on Tuesday.
