The Agape Christian Knights will head out to take on the Cobden Appleknockers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Agape Christian's win against Shawnee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Redskins on Tuesday.
Isabella Knox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Agape Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddison Richard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another was Alaina Reynolds, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cobden got themselves on the board against Egyptian on Wednesday, but Egyptian never followed suit. They blew past the Pharaohs 15-0. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Appleknockers yet this season.
Abby Pitts made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Pitts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Natalie Storm was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Alivia Kilpatrick was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3.
Cobden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Cobden's win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3. As for Agape Christian, their record now sits at 2-3.
Agape Christian took their victory against Cobden in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Appleknockers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
