Volleyball Recap: Aquinas Find Success

It's playoff time, and Aquinas had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Viroqua Blackhawks by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Blugolds in their matchups with the Blackhawks: they've now won three in a row.

The victory didn't come easy: Viroqua scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Aubrey Coyne, who had 18 digs and two assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Norah Poellinger was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

When it comes to explaining why Viroqua lost, don't look at Sam Schneider. Despite the final result, she had six aces and four digs.

Aquinas' win bumped their record up to 16-14. As for Viroqua, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-6.

Coming up, Aquinas will challenge Luther at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Viroqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
