Basketball Recap: Max Williams and Evan Brown Secure Win for Whitman

Whitman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Walter Johnson Wildcats by a score of 75-66. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Wildcats are ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitman was led to victory by Evan Brown and Max Williams. Brown went 9-for-16 en route to 22 points and three steals, while Williams went 5-for-10 on his way to 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Brown has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Shapiro, who scored eight points and five boards.

Whitman's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Walter Johnson, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Whitman will welcome Wootton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Walter Johnson, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Cougars on Friday.
