Softball Recap: Anderson Cubs vs. Gridley Bulldogs

Anderson came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Gridley Bulldogs, falling 26-4. The Cubs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2017.

Anderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Sturges, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Sturges also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Mariah Moss was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Anderson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Gridley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anderson will be taking part in a tournament against Shasta at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Anderson's pitchers better be ready for this one: Shasta has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Gridley, they will head out to take on Oroville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
