League recap: Somerset extends winning streak with victory over Dartmouth

Somerset extended the longest winning streak in Eastern this week by beating Dartmouth, 32-29. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Raiders.

Somerset and the Indians played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Somerset eventually emerging with a 32-29 victory.

Martha's Vineyard Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alec Tattersall threw for 60 and two touchdowns and Jahmari Thomas had 23 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Watkins chipped in 95 yards. Watkins helped Martha's Vineyard Regional's passing attack out by catching two balls for 18 yards.

The Vineyarders' Tattersall and Watkins have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tattersall has thrown for 501 yards this season, while Watkins, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 11 catches for 181 yards. Joshua Cobb from Coyle-Cassidy leads the league in rushing with 595 yards.

A big matchup in Eastern this week will be when Bishop Stang takes on Nick Freitas' team. At the moment, the Spartans are in fifth, while the Raiders are in first.

Bishop Feehan made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,873 from 4,443. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-0 victory over Barrington last week.
