Softball Game Preview: Juniata Valley Hornets vs. DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals

The Juniata Valley Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Juniata Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so DuBois Central Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Juniata Valley heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Claysburg-Kimmel by a score of 5-4. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Brooklyn Harman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kelsey Ersek was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, DuBois Central Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Curwensville on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Rylee Kulbatsky spent all 12 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 21 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Lily Davidson was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

DuBois Central Catholic now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Juniata Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1.
