Baseball Recap: Brookfield's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Brookfield came into Thursday's game having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Garfield G-Men 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the G-Men on Monday, they had to take a 10-8 loss.

Joe Hook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bray Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Brookfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-13 otherwise. Pete O'Dell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Brookfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Garfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
