Roanoke Valley Christian hasn't had much luck against North Cross recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The EAGLES will welcome the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Roanoke Valley Christian and Timberlake Christian have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The EAGLES blew past the Tornadoes 11-1. The win continues a trend for the EAGLES in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won three in a row.
Colton Bowman and Zach Mioduszewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Bowman struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Mioduszewski tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bowman is becoming a predictor of Roanoke Valley Christian's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). At bat, Bowman scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Mioduszewski scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Mioduszewski also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

He also scored two runs, which is notable because Roanoke Valley Christian is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jacob Mioduszewski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Roanoke Valley Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timberlake Christian only posted a batting average of .182.
Meanwhile, North Cross had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Caissons a 16-0 shutout.
Ryan Thomas made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, North Cross let Tristan Lange and Chase Shannon run wild. Lange went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Shannon went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Daniel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
North Cross pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Roanoke Valley Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Roanoke Valley Christian couldn't quite finish off North Cross in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the EAGLES have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
