Volleyball Recap: Austin Catholic Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Rebecca Shrodes and Madison Mondry

Austin Catholic entered their contest against Richard on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Crusaders fell 3-1 to the Pioneers. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pioneers 25-21 in the first set.

Austin Catholic started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-14.

Madison Mondry and Rebecca Shrodes certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Mondry had 15 digs and three assists, while Shrodes had 13 digs and two aces. Mondry has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Austin Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Richard, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season.

Austin Catholic has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Cardinal Mooney Catholic on the 18th. Richard has also already played their next contest (against Lumen Christi Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
