Baseball Recap: Southwest's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Southwest and West Broward squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Southwest had to settle for second. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 6-0. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Southwest got a good showing from Ryan Fernandez, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fernandez has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

Southwest moved to 17-10 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for West Broward, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.

While Southwest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
