Basketball Recap: Plainville Skates Past Oakley with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainville). They blew past the Oakley Plainsmen 78-49 on Monday. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Oakley lost, don't look at Mason Jackson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Jackson has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Fink, who posted eight points.

Plainville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2-1 record this season. As for Oakley, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Plainville will head out to square off against Hoxie on Friday. As for Oakley, they will take on Ellis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
