Rancho and Basic are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Rams will welcome the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Rancho is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mojave a 12-0 shutout. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.

Brooklynn Braun made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, Annalise Stout was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alainna Weber, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Rancho always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Basic faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves lost 17-7 to the Gators. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Gators: they've now lost eight in a row.
Natalee Ramos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Kilar, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Rancho's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Basic, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
Rancho couldn't quite finish off Basic in their previous meeting back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
