Softball Recap: Maryvale Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mountainside last Tuesday, Maryvale Prep came back down to earth. The Matador lost 25-2 to the Anthem Prep Eagles on Wednesday. The contest marked the Matador's lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Maryvale Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliyah Caudillo, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-1. Caudillo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Maryvale Prep's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4. As for Anthem Prep, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maryvale Prep will challenge Mayer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Anthem Prep, they will face off against Desert Heights Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
