Baseball Recap: Central Magnet Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Central Magnet ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Franklin County Rebels 6-5. That's two games straight that Central Magnet has won by just one run.

Elijah Bonner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched eight innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Bonner was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Joseph Rowell was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Central Magnet is 3-1 when Rowell posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

The victory got Central Magnet back to even at 9-9. As for Franklin County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Central Magnet will welcome Smyrna at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Franklin County, they will head out to face off against DeKalb County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
