Football Game Preview: Ponder Lions vs. Peaster Greyhounds

The Ponder Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Peaster Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peaster took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ponder, who comes in off a win.

Ponder is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Iowa Park: they outscored them in every quarter. The Lions put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 42-20 victory on Friday. Considering the Lions have won four games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyson Price produced another solid effort rushing for 122 yards and two TDs on only nine carries, while also throwing for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Gage Ersch, who rushed for 138 yards and two scores.

Meanwhile, Peaster was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 21-15 to Paradise. The defeat continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Having lost for the first time this season, Peaster fell to 6-1. As for Ponder, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Ponder has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 501.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like Peaster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 355.6 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.

Ponder suffered a grim 31-7 defeat to Peaster in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Greyhounds' Hudson Salyers, who rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries.
