Basketball Recap: Philip Gets the Win

While Philip has struggled on the road with five straight losses, that wasn't the case on Thursday thanks to Josie Jones. The Philip Scotties managed a 59-53 victory over the Edgemont Moguls thanks in part to Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Fayth Martin, who posted ten points along with six boards and six steals. Martin is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Edgemont's loss came despite strong showings from Hadley Hollenbeck and Raelee Provorse. Hollenbeck dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Provorse went 9 of 15 on her way to 21 points. With that strong performance, Hollenbeck is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game.

Philip's record is now 4-2. As for Edgemont, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Philip will take on Lemmon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Edgemont, they will face off against Crazy Horse at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgemont is facing Crazy Horse at the right time seeing as Crazy Horse is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
