Football Recap: Newton Takes a Loss

Newton was the 20-13 winner over Marshall when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The game between the Eagles and the Lions didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 32-15.

Hayden Mulvey threw for 173 yards and one TD. Dexter Fulton was his top target, picking up 80 receiving yards.

Marshall had a senior duo take command as Lucca Giannavola rushed for 173 yards and three scores and Kaiden Sanders rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown. Sanders also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Marshall, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

As of now, neither Newton nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
