Baseball Game Recap: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Crowley County Chargers

Rye had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it nine. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-2 to the Crowley County Chargers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on Friday.

Jackson Bjorum was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Pierce Burris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Crowley County, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Crowley County's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tritt Buhr, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rye didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 defeat against Lamar on the 21st. As for Crowley County, they will take on Rocky Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Meloneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
