Soccer Game Preview: Pine Crest vs. Cardinal Gibbons

The Pine Crest Panthers will challenge the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine Crest is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Pine Crest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Calvary Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Pine Crest's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Calvary Christian Academy are ranked 329th).

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons won against Coral Springs Charter on Wednesday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Friday. The Chiefs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past NSU University 1-0. That's two games straight that Cardinal Gibbons have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Henry Copelin, which was the first he's scored this season.

Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 6-7-3. As for Pine Crest, their win bumped their record up to 11-6-3.

Pine Crest beat Cardinal Gibbons 2-0 in their previous meeting on January 6th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
