TAPPS Division II District 1 recap November 5, 2013
Elias Aguirre of Midland Christian ran for the longest rushing play in TAPPS Division II District 1 this season against Pantego Christian last week. Aguirre scampered for 74 yards on the play and finished with 74 on the day as his team bested the Panthers.
Fort Worth Christian scaled the state rankings by moving to 368 from 423 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cardinals climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Reicher Catholic 35-7.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Midland Christian's Mason McClendon and Jarrod Koym have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback McClendon has thrown for 2,735 yards this season, while Koym has 37 catches for 770 yards. Grace Prep's Brad Horner leads the league in rushing yards with 771.
An important game coming up in TAPPS Division II District 1 this week will be when Greg McClendon's team takes on the Cougars. The Mustangs are currently in first, while Reicher Catholic is in fourth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Midland Christian beat Pantego Christian 55-9. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
