Mount Miguel gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Morse Tigers. For the Matadors, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Mount Miguel had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-16.

Evalani Ariel paced Mount Miguel's offense, picking up ten kills. Ariel got some help from Norbenna Aquisap and her 11 assists.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hailee Divina, who had nine digs and five aces. Divina is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Hailie Bautista was another key player, getting 15 digs and five assists.

Morse is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Mount Miguel has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Madison on the 21st. As for Morse, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Mar Vista on the 21st.
