Baseball Recap: Springville Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Springville had won five straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 11-11 to make it six. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Timpview Thunderbirds. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won five in a row.

Zander Oakey tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Reid Deede, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Springville is undefeated when Deede posts one or more home runs, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Tingey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Timpview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it 12 in a row.

On Timpview's side, Elliot Myers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Ty Wester was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Springville will have a chance to go back-to-back against Timpview: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
