Basketball Recap: Putnam Takes a Loss

Putnam fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Lyman Memorial on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs. The Clippers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 69-63.

Putnam lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was NICHOLAS DEVLIN, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points and five boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JAMISON PROULX, who posted 14 points and eight steals.

Kevin Botticello continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lyman Memorial, dropping a double-double with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Botticello's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Jackson Bobbi was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Putnam has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Lyman Memorial, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lyman Memorial beat Putnam by a score of 51-40 on Wednesday.
